At SAI (Scientifically Advanced Interiors), we take pride in providing our clients with the highest quality of laboratory products. With our long-standing history dealing with laboratory furniture and fume hoods, our company is the ideal choice for the maintenance and cleaning of your laboratory fume hoods. Our specialization in fume hoods, and other laboratory accessories means that we have the knowledge and skills to bring the best out of your lab.
Fume Hoods need regular maintenance to avoid potentially injurious and catastrophic failures. Not only does proper maintenance keep fume hoods and lab personal operating safely, it prevents costly unexpected shutdowns and loss of fume hood utilization. Regular maintenance is proven to sustain and improve workplace ergonomics. A simple routine check up and cleaning can extend the life of your fume hood by years, and reduce injuries to laboratory personnel.
SAI (Scientifically Advanced Interiors) offers a wide range of maintenance services, operation testing to component replacement. We also use our vast knowledge of fume hoods to offer guidance for effective methods of safe Fume Hood operation, which can help avoid future issues.
SAI (Scientifically Advanced Interiors) is a leader in installation, preventative maintenance, repairs, providing operational guidance, and testing targeted to extend the life of your fume hoods and associated components. We use multiple programs, some of which are highlighted below.
Maintenance Program: Based on our initial review of existing fume hoods, we suggest enrollment to one of our maintenance programs. A 1 or 3 year maintenance plan is available based on the finding of our initial review. Our maintenance activities include checking your existing chain and sprocket system or wire rope system, administering required lubrication, assessing the airflow, checking for leaks, suggesting improvements or changes for damaged components, making required adjustments, and discussing general testing, maintenance, and cleaning tips and suggestions.
Hood Improvement Program: Our extensive experience with the installation, repair, and maintenance of laboratory and walk in fume hoods enables us to offer the following list of fume hood enhancements to better equip your fume hoods for the types of operations being performed. You will witness huge savings, and reduce downtime once you’ve enrolled in this program. Listed below are just a few of the ways we can help improve your fume hoods.
- Convert vertical rising sash system to horizontal sliding sash configuration
- Add new fixtures like Gas, Air, Vacuum, Coldwater etc.
- Replace fume hood liner and baffles
- Replace sash glass
- Replace lower airfoil
- Replace base cabinets; add knee space, or set hood on a welded table frame
- Replace worktop
- Add distillation section/lattice
- Add sash stops/locks
- Add interior shelving
- Add a ceiling enclosure
- Add side wall equipment pass through, or cord/tubing pass through
Sash Repair or Replacement (SRR): Sash drive system components, are often the components that require the greatest amount of attention and maintenance. Our fume hood review identifies potential problems, and determines which course of action should be taken. Sometimes a full hood overhaul is required, while other times administering lubricant can be enough. Looking for fume hood repair services after fume hoods have already failed does not just increase the risk of sash injuries, but it also increases the downtime needed for repairs. We are equipped to check and repair fume hoods manufactured by most manufacturers, restoring them to full operation
Whether you want to replace old fume hoods with new ones, or just do maintenance on your existing
hoods, please reach out to one of our team members. Replacement of components such as the sash,
tops, fixtures, etc. can sometimes be preferable to changing entire hoods. What's more, if you want to
have new additions to your existing fume hoods, like adding new fixtures (Air, Gas, Vacuum), airflow
monitors, auto sash systems, etc. we would be more than happy to help. Download our PDF for
information on our fume hood maintenance programs.
